Give Me One Reason
This is from a Sonny fan's point of view. But please, even if you aren't a Sonny fan, take a look. See if you identify with what I'm saying in regards to your favorite gh character. After all, we are all in this together.
I wish I could have one sit down meeting with Bob Guza. I would have a ton of questions, But they would only require one answer. So, although Guza may never see this, I want to talk straight to the man who is making the decisions regarding my character.
So, Mr. Guza,
What I want to know is, why this Sonny fan, or ANY Sonny fan should keep watching General Hospital. Why would I want to? What do I have to root for when every story goes the same way, and ends up the same place? With such predictability that Sonny is going to lose everything in the end, why should I keep subjecting myself to it? Or am I wrong?
Should I root for Sonny and his kids? Should I look forward to the scenes with the two children that hate Sonny? Not only do they tell him how evil he is, but then they have such respect for people just as criminal as him? OR should I hope for a rare scene in which Sonny gets to see the two kids that love him, when they will be confronted for daring to see the man who raised them, or he will be yelled at for putting them at risk, even though they are apparently perfectly fine being near any other criminal in town? Maybe I should root for a romance instead. What would that be though? A romance with the woman Sonny loves, but thinks he's the worst thing to ever happen to him? Or should I want to see him with the woman that he doesn't love, but its good for Carly, Michael and Jason if he keeps her off their backs?
I guess I should just root for Sonny the mobster. The one who shoots a guy who comes at him on the street with a gun, and has every single person in the town on his back, yet at the same time, his hitman is out in the woods, mowing down ten men in front of a cop, and then getting thanked and praised for it.
Tell me, please, what does Sonny have? He has lost everything. And anything he stands to gain is nothing that any fan wants for him.
Don't get me wrong, and don't misunderstand. I see so much on this show that I want for Sonny. I want him to have his kids. But why would I want to watch Sonny bond with a daughter who never believed him when he said he never hit a woman? Or the son who hates the simple fact that he is his father? Or the youngest son who has an allegiance to jax, the man who tried to put his father away, and made it happen to his brother. Or the adopted son who now thinks Jason is his dad?
I also want Sonny to have Brenda and have love again. But am I suppose to enjoy the process of her fighting him because he's so bad for her? And everyone tells her so. And once they get back together, everyone is going to say he manipulated her into it. WHY would I want to watch that?
Like I said, I have tons of questions, but I only require one answer. So I will break it all down to one simple question. Can you give me ONE SINGLE REASON why as a sonny fan I should continue to take an hour out of every day to watch this show?
I don't expect all General Hospital fans to agree with everything I said about Sonny. But if you can apply this to your character, just let it sink in. Realize that you deserve better, and you aren't getting it. You give your time and devotion to this show, even just for one character, and you deserve something in return.
The real point of this post is to inspire you to take action, or to continue taking action. All you have to do is write. Send letters. Send emails. Don't let the people at general hospital think that you are satisfied with gh. And trust me, They won't have any passion for gh if the fans don't. So you push, and you fight, and you keep them on their toes. Get all the writing info. Save it on your computer. Write after each episode, or after each week. Give both positive and negative feedback. And just be polite. Its the best way to get your point across. Demand that general hospital give you back a reason to continue watching
